Classes are for anyone in San Joaquin County who is interested in becoming a caregiver to children and youth in out-of-home care. Orientations are open for anyone wanting to know more about the process. After orientation, participants can fill an application and will work with a social worker to sign up for Pre-service/approval classes. For those wanting to complete their annual hours, classes are open and vary. People interested in comleting annual hours should contact us for a schedule of classes.

Foster and Kinship Care Education (FKCE) is a program for current and interested caregivers in San Joaquin County. The program is designed to provide a quality education and support opportunities to caregivers of children and youth in out-of-home care so that these providers may meet the educational, emotional, behavioral and developmental needs of children and youth in the foster care system.

  • Orientations are held every Thursday evening (informational sessions)
  • Pre-Service classes are signed up through your social worker (after you fill out an application)
  • In-Service classes are signed up through us or your social worker (these are annual hours)
