Only for San Joaquin County cases, must be offense free; no longer serving a sentence including any supervision (probation/parole), not facing any new charges.

Services

The San Joaquin County Public Defender’s Clean Slate Program helps eligible individuals reduce or clear past criminal convictions to remove barriers to employment, housing, education, and access to public benefits. The program provides assistance with record clearance remedies such as expungements and other post‑conviction relief for San Joaquin County cases, reviewing eligibility and preparing petitions for the court on a client’s behalf.

Services are focused on people who have completed sentences and are no longer on probation or parole, with the goal of supporting successful reentry and improved quality of life through a cleaner criminal record.

Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Closed for lunch 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
