Community Awareness and Education
Awareness Campaigns: Multiple times throughout the year, CAPC runs a variety of multi-media awareness campaigns aimed at increasing positive parenting messages, informing the community of available resources, and bringing awareness to our agency program and needs. Through a combination of billboard campaigns, radio ads, TV commercials, target mailers, and other innovative strategies, CAPC reaches an estimated 717,000 views. CAPC is also active on all social media platforms, sharing news, updates and important reminders to followers of all demographics on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Tik-Tok.
The Lisa Project: A multi-sensory exhibit that immerses the visitor into an abused child’s life. This award-winning, innovative approach to awareness-raising has grown to be a multi-state program and has reached over 100,000 people across the state of California!
A condensed version of the exhibit, “Lisa in Ten”, was launched in 2013 and the demand to bring it to high school campuses in our community has grown significantly. Our goal is to have the exhibit available to every high school campus on an annual basis, bringing the message of family violence prevention, intervention and healing to young people across San Joaquin County.
Pinwheels for Prevention (P4P): an education and awareness campaign for preschool through elementary school children that age appropriately focuses on child abuse and helping children identify safe adults and strategies to safely ask for help. There is also a P4P presentation for high school students/adults which includes human trafficking awareness.
Family Assistance: In an effort to further reduce family stressors and adequately equip families with basic necessities, Other family assistance includes distribution of donated clothing and toys, holiday assistance and linkage to no-cost diapers and baby needs. (Also include emergency financial Assistance info), Adopt a Family, etc.
Notably, CAPC offers a uniquely broad range of comprehensive services to meet the complex needs of families, resulting in superior wrap-around services. All CAPC staff are trained to identify each family's unique needs and ensure that the necessary case management & supportive services are identified and provided to them. Families who begin their journey through any of those case management services are also quickly linked to our early education program, to ensure their children can participate in an early education environment that provides consistency, nurturing relationships, and quality learning experiences, necessary to build resilience in the face of their family’s current challenges.
CAPC is a well-respected agency with more than 45 years committed to building partnerships throughout the community to strengthen our services and meet the complex needs of families as evidenced by successfully partnering with multiple agencies including, but not limited to, First 5 of San Joaquin, San Joaquin County Behavioral Health Services, Human Services Agency, Head Start San Joaquin, San Joaquin County Office of Education, California Department of Education, California Department of Social Services and various school districts.
The agency is governed by a 10-member volunteer Board of Directors that is a reflection of our diverse community and lend their expertise in the fields of social services, law, banking, business, health care, and accounting. The Executive Director leads a team of highly qualified and committed managers with varying degrees in specific subject areas and concentrations related to social work, business, child development, etc. All staff is required to regularly train in the areas of signs and symptoms of child abuse, mandated reporter laws, and child development. Many also hold various levels of teaching and clinical credentials.
CAPC staff serve on multiple Task Forces in San Joaquin County, often in leadership roles.
