Children Children’s Outpatient Mental Health Services
Clinical services provides outpatient mental health care for children and youth (ages 0–18) who are Medi-Cal beneficiaries. Services are delivered through individual and family-based treatment modalities, with a focus on attachment-based approaches such as Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Play Therapy-informed strategies. These interventions aim to strengthen the parent-child bond and reduce the risk of abuse or neglect. CAPC serves as a designated county specialty contractor for therapeutic services targeting children ages 0–5.
Behavioral support services are provided by Child Development Consultants to at-risk children ages 0 to 5 and their families who attend CAPC day care centers or pre-schools. These services are designed to improve child behavior, enhance parenting techniques, and reduce the need for more intensive interventions.
In addition to behavioral support, staff offer Kindermusik classes—interactive parent-child sessions that promote healthy attachment and early brain development through shared musical experiences. These classes foster emotional bonding and developmental growth in a nurturing and engaging environment.
This program is designed to identify and address the underlying barriers contributing to poor academic performance, behavioral challenges, and increased risk of suspension or expulsion among K–12 students. Services include skill-based psychoeducational groups conducted on school campuses, as well as home-based case management to support both students and their families.
Interventions focus on mitigating the impact of trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), promoting healthy development, and strengthening interpersonal relationships. In addition, school personnel receive classroom-based support and mental health education to enhance their capacity to foster students’ academic, emotional, and social growth.
This program provides mentoring and supportive services to youth ages 16 to 25 who experience emotional and behavioral challenges but do not meet the criteria for specialty mental health services. The program specifically targets high-risk individuals, including those involved in or at risk of gang affiliation, survivors of sexual exploitation, and youth exposed to violence, criminal activity, or physical and emotional abuse.
Services are designed to promote stability and personal growth through comprehensive case management and individualized goal setting. Areas of focus include education, parenting skills, social support networks, physical health, community engagement, employment readiness, financial literacy, emotional well-being, and housing security.
This initiative partners with high schools across multiple districts in San Joaquin County to promote suicide awareness and prevention through the nationally recognized Yellow Ribbon Campaign. The program provides comprehensive training for both students and school staff to identify and support youth in crisis.
Dedicated staff are stationed at each participating school site and are equipped to conduct depression screenings, facilitate peer support groups, and coordinate referrals for psychological consultation. These services are designed to foster early intervention, reduce stigma, and create a supportive environment for students’ mental health and well-being.
