Assistance League of Stockton is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to serving the community through philanthropic programs such as Operation School BellĀ®, which annually clothes over 1,200 school children in need. Other programs include:
- The Kids on the Block - puppet shows to teach tolerance for those who are different, and how to be safe at both home and school
- Book Buddies - volunteers visit second grade classes to work on basic phonics and listen to struggling readers read aloud
- Comfort Kits - backpacks filled with age and gender appropriate clothing, hygiene and "comfort items," which are given to Child Protective Services for distribution to children entering Foster Care. Adult Comfort Kits is also provided for assault survivors at the County Hospital
Programs are largely funded through the proceeds from the thrift shop. The Assistance League of Stockton maintains a thrift shop with clothing and other household items at 1319 East Harding Way in Stockton.
